Hello my dear readers! I hope you’re having a lovely Thursday! I’m back today with a couple of quotes from my recent finished book, Me Before You. I’m so heartbroken I can’t even explain how it was. I also watched the movie and feel even more heartbroken, so I’m not sure when (and if) I’ll write a review on it soon.

Goodreads Synopsis

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.
What Lou doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he’s going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time.

I hadn’t realised that music could unlock things in you, could transport you to somewhere even the composer hadn’t predicted. It left an imprint in the air around you, as if you carried its remnants with you when you went.

Clark, I’ve never seen anyone more uncomfortable with a human body than you. You act like it’s radioactive.

It’s just that the thing you never understand about being a mother, until you are one, is that it is not the grown man — the galumphing, unshaven, stinking, opinionated off-spring — you see before you, with his parking tickets and unpolished shoes and complicated love life. You see all the people he has ever been all rolled up into one.

What quotes have you found this week? Have you read Me Before You? If so, what did you think of it?

“Thursday Quotables” No°3 – Bag Of Bones

This week I’ll have to choose quotes from Bag of Bones again, because I didn’t manage to finish it ‘such a failure’ ‘guys, it’s got 660 pages’. Without further ado, here are my favourite quotes this week.

Goodreas Synopsis

Four years after the sudden death of his wife, forty-year-old bestselling novelist Mike Noonan is still grieving. Unable to write, and plagued by vivid nightmares set at the western Maine summerhouse he calls Sara Laughs, Mike reluctantly returns to the lakeside getaway. There, he finds his beloved Yankee town held in the grip of a powerful millionaire, Max Devore, whose vindictive purpose is to take his three-year-old granddaughter, Kyra, away from her widowed young mother, Mattie. As Mike is drawn into Mattie and Kyra’s struggle, as he falls in love with both of them, he is also drawn into the mystery of Sara Laughs, now the site of ghostly visitations and escalating terrors. What are the forces that have been unleashed here—and what do they want of Mike Noonan?

I’m a lucky girl, don’t you think? First I marry the son on an extremely rich man, and after he dies, I fall under the protective wing of another rich guy. Next I’ll probably move in with Donald Trump.

I’m not making this up. I swear. I almost dropped the book reading this. What would I have thought of it, if I had read this a couple of years ago? Probably nothing as I knew nothing of Trump before the USA elections.

A shudder twisted through me at that. It was a strong one, as if someone were spinning a wire in my flesh. I didn’t want her to notice it – what a way to start a summer day, by revolting a guy so badly that he stood there shaking and grimacing in front of you – so I raised my hand and waved. I tried to smile, as well. Hello there, lady standing out by the floating bar. Hello there, you old bag of bones, you scared the living shit out of me but it doesn’t take much these days and I forgive you. How the fuck ya doin?

Up to this point the title has been mentioned at least 6 times and it doesn’t feel overused at all. I love Mike Noonan’s character a lot and the way he thinks as proven above.

Today is a very special day for my scottish Friend Shannon. Happy Birthday my dear, cheers to thee!

One day later sorry. I was unsure which quotes to choose, better said which book. I’ve finished quite a few books lately and I’d normally keep the quotes for the reviews which I’m totally procrastinating right now. I realised this morning I could pick a couple from my current read Bag Of Bones by Stephen King which will definitely won’t be included in the review, as they don’t really have an impact on the storyline, but are still pretty interesting, funny and relevant. This is also my first book from Stephen King and I’m really enjoying it to this point and looking forward to read about what happens next.

Readers have a loyalty that cannot be matched anywhere else in the creative arts, which explains why so many writers who have run out of gas can keen coasting anyway, propelled on to the bestseller lists by the magic words AUTHOR OF on the covers of their books.

Because things would get better, wouldn’t they? No one had terminal writer’s block, did they (well, with the possible exception of Harper Lee)?

As the late Jim Croce wisely observed, you don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and you don’t mess around with Mary Higgins Clark. Not if you’re Michael Noonan, anyway.

“Thursday Challenge” No°10

Thursday Challenge is a place for photographic fun and learning.  A theme is announced on this site each week.  You may either take a new photograph related in some way to the theme or select one that you have taken previously.

Hello everybody! It’s a fine hot day outside, 33°C/91°F, and I am siting in front of a laptop, writing this and eating ice-cream. Definitely better than going outside! This week’s theme is “YOUNG” (Children, Babies, Baby Animals, Things that are new,…)  and I chose a picture of a cute baby swan I took in the Netherlands in June 2014.IMG_64231.JPGThursdayChallenge

I started reading this after finishing the Romeo and Juliet Graphic Novel and I’m totally in love with it (I honestly believe it’s better than Romeo and Juliet). Here are a few of the quotes I got so far:

Nothing is good or bad in itself; we make it so with our thoughts. And to me, Denmark is a prison. ~~page 60

Why should such fellows as I crawl between earth and heaven? We are all criminals, believe none of us. ~~page 85

Eyes without feeling, feeling without sight, ears without hands or eyes — even if you had but one impaired sense, you couldn’t make such a mistake. ~~page 123

I must be cruel to be kind.~~page 127

What about you? What interesting, funny or inspirations quotes did you read this week?

Hello everyone! I realised I haven’t done a Thursday Challenge in a while, but to be honest it is not the only thing I didn’t do lately. I’ve got a few tags/awards and other memes that need to be done ASAP and tomorrow I fly to Romania, so I’m not sure that next week will happen so much on this blog. (I’ll try to prepare a few posts though) But, to get back to this week’s Thursday Challenge, the theme is “BLACK” (Dark, Night, Shadows, Shade, Gloom,…). My choice was a set of photos of the Sun Eclipse on the 20.03.15. We put aluminium foil of windows so that we can look at it and I decided to take a few photos (actually I wasn’t the only one, more like the ENTIRE school came to the physics classes to see it)

This week’s theme is “STRAIGHT” (Lines, Roads, Power Lines, In a Row, Non-stop,…) and I chose this picture I’m deeply in love with. I felt very proud of myself when I saw how it turned out to be, considering that I never thought of myself of being a pro (I’m not saying that I’m a pro, but lucky to have taken a beautiful picture). It was taken in the Cologne Cathedral on the 25th of September 2014.IMG_0620
