My TeaserThe Bat (Harry Hole, #1)

And that was when her lips had pursed, turned ugly and articulated, with a pointed tone: ‘Why isn’t there a visa in your passport, sir?’
His heart sank, as it invariably did when there was a hint of catastrophe in the offing. Perhaps ‘sir’ was used only when situations become critical?

The Bat by Jo Nesbo (page 4 paperback)

Synopysis:

HARRY IS OUT OF HIS DEPTH.

Detective Harry Hole is meant to keep out of trouble. A young Norwegian girl taking a gap year in Sydney has been murdered, and Harry has been sent to Australia to assist in any way he can.

HE’S NOT SUPPOSED TO GET TOO INVOLVED.

When the team unearths a string of unsolved murders and disappearances, nothing will stop Harry from finding out the truth. The hunt for a serial killer is on, but the murderer will talk only to Harry.

HE MIGHT JUST BE THE NEXT VICTIM.

My Teaser

I open my eyes and pause. I am standing outside the Baptist church, and when I stare at the gable, I know exactly who I am.
My name is Landon Carter, and I’m seventeen years old.
This is my story; I promise to leave nothing out.
First you will smile, and then you will cry — don’t say you haven’t been warned.

A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks ( page xiii – Prologue paperback)

Synopysis:
Every April, when the wind blows from the sea and mingles with the scent of lilacs, Landon Carter remembers his last year at Beaufort High. It was 1958, and Landon had already dated a girl or two. He even swore that he had once been in love. Certainly the last person in town he thought he’d fall for was Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town’s Baptist minister.
A quiet girl who always carried a Bible with her schoolbooks, Jamie seemed content living in a world apart from the other teens. She took care of her widowed father, rescued hurt animals, and helped out at the local orphanage. No boy had ever asked her out. Landon would never have dreamed of it.
Then a twist of fate made Jamie his partner for the homecoming dance, and Landon Carter’s life would never be the same. Being with Jamie would show him the depths of the human heart and lead him to a decision so stunning it would send him irrevocably on the road to manhood…

My Teaser:

He threw his burning cigarette onto our clean living room floor and ground it into the wood with his boot.
We were about to become cigarettes.

Between Shades Of Gray by Rute Sepetys (page 5 / paperback)

Synopsis:

Lina is just like any other fifteen-year-old Lithuanian girl in 1941. She paints, she draws, she gets crushes on boys. Until one night when Soviet officers barge into her home, tearing her family from the comfortable life they’ve known. Separated from her father, forced onto a crowded and dirty train car, Lina, her mother, and her young brother slowly make their way north, crossing the Arctic Circle, to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia. Here they are forced, under Stalin’s orders, to dig for beets and fight for their lives under the cruelest of conditions.

Lina finds solace in her art, meticulously–and at great risk–documenting events by drawing, hoping these messages will make their way to her father’s prison camp to let him know they are still alive. It is a long and harrowing journey, spanning years and covering 6,500 miles, but it is through incredible strength, love, and hope that Lina ultimately survives. Between Shades of Gray is a novel that will steal your breath and capture your heart.

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a marvellous Tuesday! I know this is not the kind of book I can suggest someone to read, because almost everyone has heard of it! I knew of its existence for more almost 10 years, but never managed to read it. Better late than never! 🙂

My Teaser this Tuesdays is from a book I just got in the mail (like literally 10 min before posting this)

“The thing about being catapulted into a new life
– or at least, shoved up so hard against someone else’s life that you might as well have your face pressed against their window – is that it forces you to rethink your idea of who you are. Or how you might seem to other people.”

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (page 76 / paperback edition)

THIS BOOK IS PERFECTION (or so I’ve heard I’m pretty sure of it)
I learned about this book from a movie trailer; my fellow hopeless romantics, it’s Sam Claflin, Finnick Odair from the Hunger Games, and a lot of British accents – what else would you need? Ten minutes later I already bought the book on Amazon.de 16102235(from AwesomeBooksDeutschland). The reason why I mention their name is because through this portal I want to thank them for sending me a second book (I have no idea how or why they send it to me; if it was a mistake or not). The book is called Oz, the Complete Collection, Volume 5: The Magic of Oz; Glinda of Oz; The Royal Book of Oz and although I am truly grateful for receiving it, now I have another collection of books I have to procure “yay”.

That being said, I hope I got you interested in a new book (or two… or a book and a collection…oh, and a movie) and I wish you a wonderful week.
