The Reader Confessions Tag

Hey everyone! It’s been a while (more like 10 weeks) since I’ve last written something on this blog and I can’t really give an excuse for my absence besides the fact that I had a hard time adjusting to my last school year and generally finding some time for writing. I’ll get back to that at the end of this post. As you realised from the title I’ve been tagged by the wonderful Romana @abooknerd13 to share some confessions and if you haven’t followed her yet you should definitely do that right away. You can check abooknerd13‘s post here.
P.S.: Romana, I am sorry it took me 3 months to write this.

1. Have you ever damaged a book?

‘ashamed’ Yes. Although it depends where you draw the line to say a book is damaged. There’s one book that had a nasty interaction with water and looks very wavy at the moment, there a couple of books with spine wrinkles (do they even call them so?) and some books I had to read in school with a lot of colourful markings inside.

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

I’ve always been extra careful with borrowed books, but there haven’t been many since I don’t really like borrowing. So the answer is no.

3. How long does it take you to read a book?

It depends. Those books we read in class can take up to a couple of months, but before I acquired a passion for reading it could have taken even more than that. Right now it depends on how gripping the book is, how easy it is to read, its length and how much free time I can allocate to it each day.

4. Books you haven’t finished?

There are a couple which are on an undetermined hold and I can only think about one book that I’ll probably never pick up again, and that is The Old Man and the Sea, which just didn’t work for me.

5. Hyped/popular books you didn’t like?

Since I haven’t read many of them I can only say Looking for Alaska. I had big expectations from it, since my best friend recommend it to me, and it was pretty good it the beginning, but towards the end some main themes incorporated in the book didn’t appeal to me and my final reaction was kind of ‘nah’. Also I didn’t like the similarities to Paper Towns, which made the book a bit boring to me.

6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

There was a time when I would have been bothered if some knew what I was reading, bot today I don’t care about what people think about me or my reading choices. As far as I’m concerned they can keep on judging since I’ll definitely keep on not caring.

7. How many books do you own?

Too many. I’ll count them by the end of the year and update this post (hopefully), but my guess is somewhere around 150-200.

8. Are you a fast or slow reader?

This goes along with question 3. It depends on the language and writing style, but mostly a fast reader.

9. Do you like to buddy read?

I never tried it, but it sounds fun and I would definitely want to try it.

10. Do you read better in your head or aloud?

In my head. Just as Romana my eyes and my mouth are not in sync, so I make a lot of mistakes when reading aloud.

11. If you were only allowed one book, what would it be and why?

This question should be banned to be asked a bookworm. As if you would ask a mother which child she loves most. ‘100 years of thinking later’ I’m going to choose The Book Thief, because it tells a wonderful, emotional story and from which you can learn a lot about life.

I tag everyone who wants to do it.

I’m back after a very long break! ‘yay’ And I have so much to catch up to. ‘not so yay’ I haven’t written any recaps for September and October and the only solution I can come up with is a season review, which I’ll post on the 1st or 2nd of December. Besides that I also have so many tags and nominations to catch up to, which I’m going to be focusing on for the rest of November. I’m keeping it short this time, as it is getting late and there is still homework to be done. Until next time and I wish you all a wonderful week start!

Ten Facts About Me

Friday 56Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Hello everybody and welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. I’ve previously posted facts about me (A-Z About Me Tag and The Liebster Award) so I’m hoping I’ll give away some new facts. Let’s get this started.

1. I’ve got a tiny obsession with candles. I mentioned this before, but they are so perfect they deserve to be mentioned more than once.

2. I fancy Funko Pop vinyl figures a lot, although I only bought one, Captain Hook, but I’m planing on buying more.IMG_1804-001.JPG

3. I don’t fancy reading series, especially those longer than 3 novels. I always think I don’t have enough time to invest in reading them in a row.

4. I’m a dog person, although I never had a dog. I’d like to buy a Pug and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

5. I love playing Sudoku and doing puzzles, which I also hang in our house. I created a small art gallery at home.

6. I have a mark in form of a crescent moon on my left side of the stomach, that I got after an accident when I was little.

7. I like playing video games, especially Sims (no judging) and Terra. I’ve also got a PSP and recently started playing Pokémon GO!

8. I like watching anime. My favourite is No Game No Life.

9. I’m not really into YA and beside Nicholas Sparks’s books I don’t think I have anything after 2013 in my bookshelves (’90 and ’00 dominate)

10. I’m pretty artsy or at least I try to be. I’ve got my room full of decorations: bookish, posters, Tumblr style.

So those were some general facts about me. Now I’d like to know what you think? Is there any point that we are alike? Would you like to share some facts about you?

The Liebster Award

I was nominated for The Liebster Award by Diego at lazysundaymovies. Thank you, thank you, thank you ! 🙂 He’s got some of the best movie reviews I’ve ever read and if you don’t agree to that you would still have to admit that they’re some of the funniest. So definitely go check them out!
I learned about this award on my best friend’s blog, Iri, who has already been nominated for 4-5 times (Well, my friend. Be prepared! Another nomination comes your way). I chose to change the rules Diego had on his blog and pick some from Iri’s and because there are 2 nominees from Germany I decided to help them by writing the questions also in German, but be free to answer them in English if you want! 🙂

The Rules:

– Thank the one(s) who nominated you
– Answer 11 questions the blogger gives you
– Give 11 random facts about yourself
– Nominate 11 bloggers that you think deserve this award too
– Give them 11 questions to answer
– Let the bloggers know you nominated them

Diego’s Questions:

1. If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
– Diego, you are a very cruel person 😂 and my choice would be “What Dreams May Come”. “It’s not about understanding. It’s about not giving up!” Robin Williams will be, at least for me, always a legend and this movie is the proof for that. Here, have some trailer convince you.
2. If a film was made about your life story, who would you cast to play yourself?
– In a blink of a second I’d first say “Morgan Freeman is to be the narrator”, as for the actress, I’d choose Anne Hathaway.
3. First movie you remember watching?Favourite movie genre?
– Diego, you cheater; those are 2 questions. The first movie I watched at the cinema was Bratz, something I don’t really recomand watching, but I don’t remember any real first. As for the genre, romantic comedies will always win me over, almost as much as superheroes movies do. Shout-out to X-Men:Apocalypse that came out today!!!
4. Favourite movie quote? (I hope you know I couldn’t choose just one)

“Don’t forget I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
Julia Roberts, Notting Hill (1999)
“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. Poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. (…)No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”
Robin Williams, Dead Poets Society (1989)

5. I normally hate watching movies before 2000’s (except some classics). Recommend a movie that might change my mind.
– If the ones mentioned above aren’t good enough and since the term classic can be vague (each decade has its own) I’ll give you one I hope you’ve never heard of. “Mononoke-hime” or “Princess Mononoke”. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Japanese movies, but this is a “classic” there and in my opinion, worth watching.
6. Favourite TV show at the moment?
Once Upon A Time. It just gets better with each season, considering that they have a lot of stories the episodes can be based on. We’ve had all the Disney Princesses, Rumplestiltskin, Peter Pan, Elsa, Merida, Dr. Frankenstein, Merlin and lately Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, so check it out.
7. Go-to weapon in a zombie apocalypse?
– A bazooka.
8. Would you rather lose both arms or both legs?
– Both legs, since I’m a lazy person anyway and not too much into sports. Also because my favourite activities imply the need of arms.
9. If you could have one power, what would it be?
– To fly.
10. When did you start blogging and why?
– Mid-March this year. My best friend is blogging about books and I wanted to share my thoughts with the world as well.
11. What do you do when you’re not in front of a keyboard?
– I read, watch movies, draw, take pictures and occasionally travel.

Although she didn’t nominate me directly, I liked her questions and decided to update my blog entry 🙂
